I'm currently writing a book on midlife. The tentative title is The Real Midlife Crisis: Why Being Middle-Aged in America is Bad for Your Health and Actionable Avenues for Promoting Resilience. I signed a publishing contract with Cambridge University Press. Below is an overview of what my book will cover.
Middle-aged adults in the United States are facing an unprecedented crisis. They are lonelier, more depressed, and in poorer health than their peers around the world. This book will uncover why midlife has become such a perilous stage and, more importantly, what can be done to change the narrative.

Drawing on research across psychology, sociology, economics, and public policy, this book will offer a wide-ranging, scientifically informed look at the forces reshaping midlife in America. From societal pressures facing parents for their children to succeed in sports and the classroom and the impossible balancing act of juggling career with caring for aging parents to an evolving job market and contending with rising healthcare, education, childcare, and housing costs, the pressures on middle-aged Americans have never been greater.
But there is hope. This book will provide actionable solutions at both the individual and policy level to foster resilience and restore balance. Readers will discover practical strategies for improving physical health, strengthening social connections, and navigating caregiving challenges, alongside policy recommendations for expanding the safety net.
Through science and real-life stories, The Real Midlife Crisis offers a roadmap for transforming midlife from a time of despair into a chapter of strength and possibility.
